Moralistic Theraputic Deism

I just read a book about Moralistic Therapeutic Deism (MTD). It is a very interesting study that the author did. I do not like the whole belief though and I wish that we could just convert those teens to Christianity, but trust me, it is not that easy. I think it is good though that they at least know that God is there. But it is sad that MTD is the "dominating teenage religion". These teenagers do have the part right about God being there for them when they need help or are sad. They just are not seeing the whole picture, just a very small part of it. I am curious to know what these teenagers thought of the interview, and what some Christian teenagers thought of it. It is normal for teenagers to be confused, so I guess I can see why this would appeal to a teen. It seems like it is too independent for teenagers. How can a teenager judge what actions are good and what actions are bad? How can someone know if they are doing the right thing when they have nothing to measure it to? That is part of the reason this belief does not appeal to me. Another part of MTD that I do not especially like is the part when they say God is only there when we want him to be. If God is everywhere, how can he only be there when we want him to be? We have no control on where he is, he is in all places at all times. In conclusion though, it makes since, with the way teenagers act nowadays that there is a religion with these characteristics. I would love to see responses on this, so, feel free to write about it. Thanks for reading, and spending time on my blog.

Scripture,Scripture,Scripture

As one might know, I am a missionary and love it. It is awesome to do what the Lord has called us into the world to do which states in Psalm 34: 3 "Glorify the LORD with me; let us exalt his name together." I like this verse because it means a lot to me because, as a missionary, I want people to understand why I do what I do. Yes, a lot of people hate me for spreading the Word; however, that is part of the risk I am willing to take. I would rather have 1,000 people hate me and one person love me because I converted them, than have no one hate me and me not convert anyone. A lot of people would rather have the second option, but as long as I am making the Lord happy, and am doing what he want he wants me to do, then I do not care if anyone hates me. Another verse I like is Jeremiah 29:11 which states "For I know the plans I have for you declares the Lord. Plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future." I feel like this verse always gives me something to lean on when I am wondering about whether or not I should go on a trip or not. I think it is important for people to know this verse because it gives people a lot of hope, even when times are really bad.

A Day in the Life of David Livingstone

Hello, I am writing to tell you what a day in my life is like. I have had some eventful days in my life. The days that I thought were the most intense and exciting were between the years of 1842-1850. I was in Africa at the time and I was in Kuruman; however, I made a lot of trips deep into the country. The reason that these trips were so intense was because I saw this big animal, also known as a lion, many times. Not only did I see lions, I also touched lions. Some I touched by choice, others however, were not by choice. The reason that I ended up touching them was because when they got to close, or started to run at me, I had to protect myself and shoot them. I would then go up and that is when I would touch them. One lion in particular that I touched without choice was a lion that attacked me. This big animal, also known as the lion I have being mentioning, was not very friendly. While he was attacking me he ripped my flesh up and completely demolished my shoulder. As this big animal (and dumb animal because it hurt me) had a big paw on my head someone distracted it and the lion ran away. When someone asked me what I was thinking while this big, dumb animal, also known as the lion, was on my head I told them that I was wondering which part of me he was going to feast on first. I was very out of it for a couple of days after that because my shoulder was crushed. I hope that a day in my life has not been to boring to hear about, and thanks for checking out my blog.

A small glimpse of my life

Hello, my name is David Livingstone. I guess you could say that I am a pretty important person, especially to Christians. I was born, and grew up in Blantye, England. I lived in a one - room place with my mom, dad, two brothers, and two sisters. I had to start working when I was ten years old, and sadly, it was in a cotton mill. I would work for fourteen hours a day, and then go to two hours of class. I guess you could say I was a nerd because I loved books. I used my first pay-check to buy a Latin and Greek book, and I must say my father was not happy. He did not like those kinds of books. My father also said that science was ungodly, but my life was altered with the writings of Thomas Dick. Thomas Dick said that science and religion both helped explain the complications of God’s world. All it took was one of Thomas’s books and immediately I knew that I wanted Christ as my Savior. When I was 23, I went to Anderson’s College, and while I was there, I studied medicine, theology, and science. Just one year after that I enrolled in the London Missionary Society (LMS). Shortly on down the road, I set out for South Africa (December 1840 to be precise). I thought that I would be gone for a little while, but had you told me I would have been gone for sixteen years, I would have just laughed. But, sixteen years it was. I arrived to Cape Town in March 1841. For ten years I tried to be a missionary in different parts of Southern Africa. While I was in Africa, I married Mary Moffat. I met her while I was teaching and working for her father. A little later, I made some very dangerous explorations.I did this because I wanted to open a “Missionary Road” called “God’s Highway”. But, I am sorry to say, I need to go spread the Word. I have only told you about the first part of my life and will be back to write more at a later date.
